Required Technical Skills
Duties and responsibilities:
Service delivery expectations:
– Leadership:
• Provide strategic guidance for Oracle Database Hosting services as required.
• Manage projects for Oracle Database Hosting services.
• Assist the Service Owner and Team Lead in the delivery of ICC Service Delivery. Agreements (SDAs)to ICC customers.
• Assist with the coordination, preparation, presentation and implementation of proposals and projects linked to the SDAs.
• Be a go-to expert for troubleshooting Oracle database related issues.
– Service Management:
• Manage, prioritize and take ownership of tasks assigned to Oracle Database team as required.
o includes service requests, change requests, incidents, project tasks and others as required.
• Monitor and take ownership of tasks assigned to Oracle Database team ensuring completion within SLA targets.
– Technical Support:
• Provide support for all Oracle Database Hosting SDAs.
• Design, install, configure and support Oracle Grid infrastructure including Real Application Clusters (RAC), ASM and databases.
• Administer and support Oracle Exadata systems including storage provisioning, VM provisioning, patching and upgrading.
• Implement backups using RMAN, standby databases using DataGuard, monitoring using Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Assist in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of database automation tasks using Ansible and related technologies.
• Perform database clones and backups using RMAN as well as NAS storage
snapshot/clone/replication technology.
• Provide on-call support (either on-site or remotely using VPN connectivity) outside normal working hours as required on a rotational basis.
• Other database administration tasks as required:
o Provide support for setup/architecture of Oracle Enterprise Manager including setup of
monitoring, alerting and scripts/interfaces to Help Desk systems.
o Manage NAS shares for use with Oracle databases and related systems.
o Co-ordinate with Oracle Support for resolution of problems and incidents.
o Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning activities as required.
o Apply database patches, updates and perform upgrades.
o Assist in the planning and running of disaster recovery tests.
o Perform capacity management and reporting as required.
o Produce documentation as required.
o Perform support activities during planned maintenance windows outside of normal
working hours.
o Perform other duties as required.
The resource MUST have the following skills and experience:
• Extensive Oracle Exadata administration experience, including upgrades and patching.
• Extensive knowledge and support experience of:
o Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
o Oracle Dataguard
o Oracle RMAN
• Experience with latest version of Oracle Enterprise Manager including installation, configuration, patching and upgrading.
• Experience in automating database administration activities.
The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience:
• Oracle OVM administration and support.
• Oracle Enterprise Linus or RedHat Linux administration and support.
• Oracle Direct-NFS experience.
• Experience with Ansible or other automation technologies.
• Experience with NetApp NAS (or similar) hosting Oracle databases.
